Chelsea Beat Man U… Pakistan Beat Srilanka and a missing Parrot

May 20, 2007

LONDON (Reuters) – Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 to win the FA Cup final on Saturday thanks to Didier Drogba’s goal deep into extra time at Wembley.

And what a final it was. A great goal by Drogba, sent the Man U fans in their usual state of denial accompanied by their rants about the referee being unfair.

Meanwhile, police is in search of a Man United hating Parrot which was all of a sudden stolen before the FA Final.

A blue-throated Amazon parrot called Chelsea, who screeches whenever anyone mentions Manchester United, has been stolen from his cage.

A car belonging to the parrot’s owners was also broken into.

Police say Chelsea is able to tell people his name and delivers a high-pitched squawk if Manchester United are mentioned within earshot.

Perhaps Man U fans are in a better position to locate the parrot, given their history of reckless behavior.

Cricket

Coming to cricket, Shahid Afridi slaughtered Srilankans , in a rare display of aggressive batting. He scored 32 of 6 balls, two 4s and four 6s, off Malinga to guide Pakistan to victory.

All-rounder Shahid Afridi hit 73 off just 34 balls as Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in Friday’s first one-day international in Abu Dhabi.

Afridi, who was dropped twice, struck 32 off one over as his side reached their target with eight overs to spare.

He was ably supported by wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, who made an unbeaten 51, as the pair gave Shoaib Malik the ideal start in his first match as captain.

Earlier, Sri Lanka made 235-9, thanks largely to a half-century from Farvez Maharoof.
